What I'm Learning - The beginning

This is my first venture into blogging.

A coworker of mine suggested that I start a daily journal of what the kids are doing and learning so that I can share this with my sister in Seattle and she can keep up. I think I'll do one better and share what I have learned from them today...

RENAME THE FOOD, AND IT IS DELICIOUS

To be completely fair, this is actually a lesson taught to me by mom years ago, however for this, we'll talk about the new version.

B. hates blueberries. Every time I pull out a container of blueberries she asks to try one and every time I end up with half-masticated blueberry in the palm of my hand and a little girl who is scraping at the roof of her mouth like a dog with a mouthfull of peanut butter. Muffins, cereal bars, pie, anything with a blueberry or a blueberry product is promptly rejected.

This morning, Jim proved that a one time trick I applied had long term staying power. B. ate all of her breakfast and was still hungry. All we had left for her was a blueberry cereal bar. We did not give it to her. Jim remembered a trick we did a few weeks back, and offered her a Blue-ba-ba-berry cereal bar, because Blue-ba-ba-berries are ever so much more delicious than blueberries. She ate the entire thing, loudly praising the blue-ba-ba-berries the entire time.

Thanks to Mom for teaching me that moo-juice was always better than the dreaded glass of milk.
